Strange Places: Latta Plantation Nature Preserve

One of the drawbacks of working 9-5 in an office for me is the barrage of fluorescent lights and icy air conditioning. When the weekend comes, I try to spend as much time outside as possible. One of my favorite places to visit is the Latta Plantation Nature Preserve. Sprawling over 1,460 acres with 16 miles of trails, it is the perfect place to unwind, hike, and keep an eye out for the various animals that populate the preserve.

Despite all of the different options for trails, I pick the same one every time. It ends at Mountain Island Lake, where I can take in the soothing sound of lapping water and enjoy scenic views.
